My name is Mel Taylor, and I am proud to be the Registered Manager of Wallside Grange Care Home in Falkirk.
I have worked in the Healthcare Industry for over 20 years starting out as a care assistant in 1997. Since then I have developed a passion for the sector, striving to ensure a high quality of care for the clients who use our service.
In 2003 I completed my access to nursing course at Forth Valley College, before graduating from Stirling University in 2007 with a degree in mental health nursing.
I have always had a keen interest in cognitive impairment, otherwise known as dementia, and believe that we can and should do the best for the individuals and their families who are on this journey. Ensuring to promote a positive experience regardless of the individual’s ability.
My first nursing role was with the NHS, in acute admissions for mental health. Following this I moved into the private sector, progressing from nurse to deputy to Home Manager, finally joining Wallside Grange in 2006 as Care Home Manager.
When I am not at work, I enjoy catching up with my family and friends. I have two grown-up children, who live in London and Edinburgh. My partner Mark and I enjoy cooking, walking, fly fishing, bike rallies, such as Thunder of the Glen and going on holiday. Greece is one of our favourite destinations.
In the beautiful surroundings of Wallside Grange, my team and I offer a very personal and welcoming environment for all who live and visit here.
My mother has been very happy in this care home she has been extremely well looked after.
The staff are so efficient, helpful and friendly. They make me so welcome when I visit my mother.
My father has been a resident since September 2017. I have been really happy with his care and he has settled in very well. He wasn't eating much when he arrived but the Chef and Carers coaxed him and went out of their way to get him to eat. He has now put on weight and enjoying his meals.
I visit my uncle several times a week at Wallside Grange Care Centre, Falkirk. The support my uncle receives from the staff is excellent. Staff and management are very helpful with any of my worries about my uncle and also support me if I am struggling. I know my uncle is safe and contented living here. Thank you.
